TREASURE CASE : 2014 T905. A fused lump of denarii - possibly burnt as they are deformed into a fused mass (total wt. = 14.01g). Three of the coins can be identified as of Severus Alexander (AD 222-35) but further details are uncertain due to the condition of the coins. A silver-gilt Post Medieval hooked tag, dating from the 16th century. The back plate is trefoil with a pinked edge. There is a hollow domed boss soldered to the front of each lobe. These are decorated with three filigree circles on each, a pellet in the centre and a filigree border at the base of each boss. Some of the decoration is missing. In the centre of the plate is circular hole. Comparison with more complete examples suggests that this rivet once held in place a sheet flower held by a butterfly pin which would split on the reverse. An Early Medieval silver penny of Archbishop Wulfred (AD 805-832), dating c. AD 810. This is a group II, transitional monogram type coin. The obverse depicts a tonsured bust facing within inner circle. The inscription reads [WULFREDI AR]CHIEPI[SCOPI]. The reverse has the monogram of DOROBERNIA in the centre. The inscription reads SAE[BERHT] MONETA, indicating Saeberht as the moneyer. The coin would have been minted in Canterbury. North Volume I (1980, no. 240). A complete but slightly distorted silver stud fastener, possibly a cuff link or button of Post-Medieval date. The object consists of two sheet plates of silver joined together at the centre of each reverse by an integral shank.
