Period: post-1714 AD Description: thin sheet silver object, badly damaged/ crumpled. On one side of what remains is an incised line along both long edges creating a border. Within this, on the same side, are further incised lines which could represent foliage. There also appears to be a partial maker's mark of 'M&' in the centre. The reverse appears plain. Dimensions: Length: 37.19mm; Width: 24.90mm; Weight: 0.9g Discussion: The style of lettering used for the maker's mark suggests a modern date.

A 19th-20th century modern replica of a silver penny of Aelfred Rex, which has been turned into a pendant by means of a nicely produced loop with rivet. The obverse depicts a helmeted bust facing left similar to London Monogram types, but is left facing, rather than right, with the addition of a sword behind his head.
