A copper alloy early medieval strap end dating to the 9th century. The strap end has a debased head with the ears behind; the neck is slightly waisted. On the curving body is a six-sided panel which contains a sinuous interlacing beast whose tale ends in a scroll and whose head looks forward to the left, the mouth agape. A leg and foot can be seen adjacent to the lower part of the frame. The decoration has been inalid with what appears to have been niello, though now rather degraded. The bifurcated attachment end is a little broken.

Incomplete Roman copper alloy probable strap-end or pendant, D-sectioned, outer part missing. The sides curl inward and conjoin before continuing as separate points. A rectangular loop springs from the curled sides formed from two short, broad sides with groove at the junction with the straight bar. This object resembles a 2nd to 3rd-century military buckle such as shown in James 2004, nos. 72-3 or Oldenstein 1976, Kat. Nr. 1011-14, but lacks a pin bar. It is perhaps more likely to have been a strap-end or pendant, such as an ornate strap-end illustrated in Appels and Laycock 2007, 96…
