Post medieval copper alloy and silver spoon terminal of 18th century date
The spoon was of 'apostle' form and is fragmentary (with a surviving length of 34.8mm and a weight of 5.8g) and comprises a copper alloy terminal surmounted on a silver handle. The terminal is heavily-corroded and appears to depict a standing figure (25.5mm long,9.0mm wide and 5.4mm thick) seemingly cloaked and with the right arm bent to the chest and may possibly have depicted the Virgin with Child. Late medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy book-clasp, of Howsam type A.3, probably of 15th to 17th century date. The clasp is near-complete, with some peripheral loss (with a length of 67.9mm, a depth of 5.3mm and a weight of 15.8g). The clasp is made from two-pieces of sheet copper alloy, attached using three rivets. One larger rivet at the centre, towards the clasp and two smaller rivets at the attachment end. Late Bronze Age bronze tanged and collared chisel, probably of Ewart Park metalworking industry, corresponding with Needham's (1996) Period 7, dated to 950 - 750BC.
The chisel is incomplete, missing the tang and with a little peripheral damage (with a surviving length of 34.1mm and a weight of 7.4g). The tang was truncated in antiquity and survives as a square-sectioned stub (with a surviving length of 4.0mm and a width and thickness of 5.2mm and 4.3mm respectively). Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester derivative, The Wroxeter, Polden Hill / T-shaped type and of later 1st or 2nd century AD date.
The brooch is near-complete, missing the pin and bow setting (with a surviving length of 58.7mm, a depth of 16.0mm and a weight of 18.2g). The spring is secured between perforated lateral lugs and the missing chord was tensioned by a lug at the head, in a 'Polden Hill, lug type' arrangement.
