A fragment of late early-medieval (1000-1100) copper alloy bridle cheek-piece of Williams Type 2. It consists of long tapering projection ending in a rounded knob, and at the other end extending into an openwork design of three narrower projections around two semi-circular holes. The breaks at each arm are worn and old.
The object is trapezoidal in cross-section, being flat to the underside with several grooves and rough to the touch. The object otherwise has a dark brown/ green, smooth and shiny patina. the edges are cut on a slight angle. The fragment measures 36.59mm in incomplete…
