A small body sherd from a medieval ceramic vessel of unknown form. The sherd has an off-white fabric with frequent small grained inlcusions. The sherd is glazed in an olive green with a blackish stripe arranged vertically; within this stripe is a decorative device similar to a row of B's on top of one another, in an orangey slip. The glazing is limited to the external wall of the fabric. Probably a Brill-Boarstall highly decorative vessel of the mid-13th or 14th century AD.

A worn copper alloy post-medieval token, formed from a halfpenny of George II (AD 1727-1760). The coin has been clipped to form a serrated edge around its circumference, and nearly all detail has been removed or worn away - one can just make out the left facing bust of George II. On the reverse of the coin the initials W K have been incised. Tokens were a common occurance from the 17th century, some lead tokens being crudely made while other copper alloy tokens were manufactured to much higher standards. There are a couple of examples of other tokens with serrated edges (see SUSS-72B7…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast copper alloy tapering cylinder measuring 68.29mm in length. Near the wider end is a goup of three cast and rounded chevrons. Within the chevron group is a small circular countersunk hole. Remains of a white metal coating survive on the surface. The purpose of this object is unclear. It has the appearance of the spigot for a barrel tap but the lack of any grip to prevent the spigot turning in the wood argues against this interpretation.
