An incomplete stone macehead of Mesolithic to early Bronze Age date (c. 8500 - 1601BC). The macehead is made from a smooth waterworn quartzite pebble. The macehead is semi-circular in shape. Approximately 50% remains. There is a break across the centre of the peforation. The hourglass profile of the perforation indicates that it was worked from both sides. There is some evidence of pecking on the rounded edge of the macehead, indicating that it may have been used as a pebble hammer.
