An incomplete and very worn cast copper-alloy object, possibly a buckle frame of Medieval to early Post-Medieval date. The surviving fragment is rectangular in form, oval in section, with incomplete arms/sides at top and bottom that are mostly incomplete due to old breaks. The front face of the object has two deep rabbetts creating raised square panels at top, middle and bottom. It measures 40.79mm in length, 11.34mm in width, 7.77mm in thickness, and 15.13g in weight. A worn cast copper alloy strap fitting of 13th or 14th century date. Traces of gilding remain. The fitting comprises a U-shaped strip whose fold is rounded and expanded, and which narrows in plan view. The two plates thus formed are 5mm apart and are pierced by two rivets each with a rounded head. The fitting is probably intended for a wooden board or a thick leather strip.
