An incomplete copper alloy Iron Age to Roman strip brooch dating to AD 25-75. The pin is missing. One of the wings is damaged. The remaining tubular wing span measures 9.25mm in width with a diameter of c. 2.51mm. The head measures 16.84mm in width and features a central V-shaped pin slot. The pin slot measures 1.99mm at the widest point and 3.76mm in length. The bow extends back from the head and measures 8.94mm in width then tapers to the foot which measures 4.97mm in width. Early Medieval florid cruciform ? brooch fragment, 29mm long, 27mm wide and 4mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition and weighs 10.80 It has a green and brown surface with cracking which suggests it may have been burnt? The brooch consists of a triangular shaped head plate with a curved upper surface. This sits above the start of a curved bow, now incomplete. The head plate possibly has raised decoration in the centre representing a human face? The reverse of the head plate has a vertical scar where a pin housing would have sat.

It has been struck from a number of angles and exhibits a substantial degree of fracturing. The flint itself is a mottled dark grey shading to off-white and has a high degree of inclusions. The core retains c. 30% cortex. The core measures 81.87mm in length, 70.82mm maximum width, 1.49mm minimum width and weighs 246.77g.

It has been bifacially flaked and retains c. 15% cortex. It has a thin butt and thickens markely along its length to the section which retains cortex. The flint exhibits a number of flaws. It is a mottled mid-light grey. The axehead measures 126.34mm in length, 53.33mm maximum width, 27.84mm minimum width, is 45.37mm thick and weighs 268.23g.
