An incomplete early post-medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy book-clasp with a small area missing at one corner of the expanded end (old damage). It measures 41.05mm in length, 14.05mm in max.width, 5.87mm in depth (at the hook; the plate is 1.34mm thick) and weighs 2.98g.
The hook-end is 5.17mm in width where it extends from the plate, narrowing to 2.61mm at the end. Behind, the plate is parallel-sided and 10.49mm wide with moulded relief decoration of foliate form.
