Record ID: SUSS-59A77D
Object type: COIN
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of a probably late Medieval to early Post-Medieval silver coin of foreign issue. Although one face is illegible with unidentifiable decoration, the other face clearly begins with + BRI. The face with the legible legend also seems to be decorated with a flat-topped object, such as a shield, with a fleur extending from each of the remaining upper corners and a further elongated fleur extending from the object's centre. The coin is in a significantly fragile state and has broken into two pieces after discovery.

A silver object, possibly part of larger object. Flat on both sides. In plan one end of the object begins with a semi-circular shape, and is then cinched towards the centre.
