Early medieval (middle Saxon) copper alloy pin, 18mm long, 2mm in diamater at shaft and 7mm in diameter at head, The object is in a fair condition and weighs 1.76grams. The object has a circular-sectioned shaft with a rounded, raised collar just below the terminal. This emerges from the shaft, gradually widening giving it a conical form, before becoming spherical. There is no decoration visible.

It has an eliptical cross section, thinning towards its once sharp edges.

Short abrupt retouch created a curving working edge, part of which is battered, and a long flake was struck from the back of the tool (lower as illustrated) edge. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-800 BC. Length: 25.4mm, Width: 27.3mm, Thickness: 7.5mm, Weight: 4.96gms.
