An Iron Age copper alloy potin, dating 100-50 BC. This is a Class I potin being circular with a rectangular tab projecting on one side. The obverse depicts a stylised bust, formed of three crescents forming the head and nose, with a ring and dot motif in the centre for the eye. None of the crescents meet. On the reverse is a bull, butting left, with a line below and two crescents above. There appears to be a pellet underneath and connected to the body of the bull. The closest exact parallel for this is in Hobbs (1996, no. 705) though none of the early potins are identical. The object …
