A struck complete copper alloy French Moor's Head type jetton of late Medieval date, circa 14th - 15th century. Obverse: AVE MAPA GRACIA (possibly MARA with a weak limb on the R) around Moor's head right with hair bound. Reverse: A-VE-M-AR around double stranded arcuate cross fleury with central lis. Similar jettons can be seen in Mitchiner, p.157-158. Although the obverse legend of this example is a variant of those listed. Mitchiner, M.(1988) Jettons, Medalets & Tokens. A struck complete copper alloy stock of Tournai type jetton of late Medieval date, circa 1415-1497 AD. The jetton is sub-circular in plan and is complete. The obverse is slightly convex in profile and bears the Shield of France bearing 3 complete lis with an annulet above. The inscription reads: X AVE MARIA GRACIA. The reverse of the jetton contains a triple stranded straight cross fleuretty within four-arched tressure; internal angles. The reverse side does not contain a legend and has been struck off centre.
