A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type), Mackreth 2011, 4.k. Plate 48, (AD c. 80-120): The copper alloy brooch is incomplete. The wings are semi-cylindrical, and terminate with wing caps. The wings are undecorated. At the upper edge of the wings and bow head there is a large integral hook which holds the chord in place. Probable Medieval to Post Medieval (c. 13th to 17th century) suspension loop or ring: The copper alloy loop is circular in plan with a sub-circular perforation which is 9.07mm diameter. The perforation shows signs of wear on one edge. The frame of the loop is oval in section. The surface has a mid greeny grey coloured patina. The loop measures 18.14mm diameter and 5.01mm thick. It weighs 3.73g.
The loop is probably a suspension loop from a mount such as a bar mount with a pendant loop (Egan, 2002, p.221), and these loops can continue into the 17th century.

Medieval to Post Medieval (c. 12th to mid 19th century) cooking vessel wall fragment: There are no original edges, they are all broken, but not recently. The interior surface is smooth with the external surface being slightly rough with traces of a black substance which is carbon deposits presumably. The surface is a mid to dark greeny grey colour. The fragment measures 28.41mm wide and 30.87mm long. It weighs 5.49g.

Medieval (late 13th to 14th century) buckle: The copper alloy buckle frame is a double looped oval in plan. The loops are undecorated, but have a notch at each apex. The reverse is undecorated, and is flat. The strap bar is narrowed, and is a rounded triangular in section. In profile the buckle is a wide 'V' shape. The pin is a fragment of wire which tapers to a point and is curled around the strap bar. The buckle frame has a abraded surface with traces of a mid green patina. The buckle measures 21.74mm long and 16.94mm wide. It weighs 1.9g.

A Medieval or Post Medieval (12th to mid 19th centuries) cooking vessel leg: In plan the leg is a sub-rectangle with a broken upper edge, the break is not recent. The lower edge has rounded corners and the base is sub-hexagonal in plan. The outer face has a central vertical ridge and has a concave surface. The reverse of the leg is slightly convex. The surface has a mottled mid green/brown patina. The leg measures 49.8mm tall, 29.87mm wide and 22.38mm thick. It weighs 98.2g.

An incomplete,copper alloy buckle dating to the Post Medieval period (1550-1650 AD). The buckle is double looped with an ovoid loop either side of the central strap bar. One loop ssurvives complete whilst the other is lost, with only a small part of the loop surviving and broken close to the strap bar. The centre of the loop expands to a rounded point and there are lobed knops on each end of the strap bar. The pin survives in situ, also copper alloy. The pin is rectangular in section. One end is curved around the strap bar whilst the other tapers in thickness and width to a point.

Cast lead cylindrical powder charger cap, with a flat base with two integral loops either side. There is a moulded vertical ridge on one side of the cap and an expanded spearhead-shaped moulding on the opposite side. The rim has two raised cordons that run around the exterior circumference of the cap. There caps were used by British infantry musketeers of the period c.1660-1686 to fit over the powder charger's open end to prevent spilling their fine priming powder which would have been poured directly into the musket's priming pan. An incomplete copper alloy Roman finger ring with inlaid enamel bezel, probably dating from the second to third centuries AD. The bezel is oval with a raised quatrefoil or cross pattern positioned over the centre, with recessed quadrants outside of the raised decoration. It is clear that these recessed cells were originally filled with enamel and although fragments of this enamel remain, it is impossible to tell what the original colour would have been.
