A cast copper alloy dress fastener of Read's early Post-Medieval Class A, Type 2. The object is sub-oval in plan with three attachment knops, two of which are complete. The eye-section of the object is incomplete terminating with an ancient break which leaves only a slight projection. The object is undecorated except for a coating of white metal, probably tin. A similar example can be found in Read, (2008), p170, no. 635.

A copper alloy 17th century West Frisian copper-alloy 'duit'. Obverse: Wreath of tulips surrounding "WEST FRISIAE" in two rows 1604 below.
