Broad period: MEDIEVAL

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Incomplete medieval lead probable pin head, a disc with a peripheral casting seam, two apertures and simple decoration in relief on both faces comprising a five-pointed star, a equal-armed cross and several letters or letter-like motifs (L and T). A short projection is broken but is not socketed. Diameter 16.5mm. Thickness 1.9mm. There is some similarity to a smaller example in lead alloy with a copper alloy shank from a context of c.1150 - c.1200 in London (Egan and Pritchard 1991, no. 1470), but this piece is surely more recent. See also SOM-6F3DEA. Perhaps 14th or 15th century.
