Complete cast copper alloy swan neck pin dating from the Early Iron Age, that is c. 800-600BC. The pin survives complete but slightly bent. It appears that the stem was bent backwards with the back of the head now touching the stem. However, this may well be a later change or accidental bent. Initially, the pin would have had a straight shank/stem which would have been curved in the shape of the letter S in the upper part. The only decoration are the three grooves at the very tip of the head. In some later forms, the head was curved all the way round to form a ring: a ring-headed pin.…

A Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch with spring mechanism dating from AD 75-120. The wings are concave on the reverse to hold the missing spring. The front of the wings are decorated with vertical bands, some beaded. There is a ridge (a pseudo forward hook) on the head. The lower bow is missing, The break is patinated and worn. The brooch is 30mm long, 47mm wide, 15mm thick and weighs 18g.

A copper alloy Medieval buckle with an integral plate, but similar in style to a Meols type 10 buckle and probably of similar date, the late 14th century. The oval frame has an expanded outer edge with a globular knop at each corner. These lobes are decorated with incised cross-hatching. The plate is short and tapers, so it is almost triangular. There is a hole for the copper alloy pin, which is surviving, and then a transverse ridge also decorated with similar cross-hatching. There is an empty rivet hole in the narrow end of the plate. Post-medieval copper alloy buckle with a missing pin. The cast frame is oval with a narrow central bar recessed behind the front face and a V-shaped and sectioned pin notch. The frame is tongue-shaped and of folded sheet with a separate disc-headed riveted stud near the inside edge. Rust around the pin slot shows that the pin was of iron. Cf. Whitehead 2003, no. 283. Frame 29.3 x 21.3. Plate 28.2 x 11.2mm. Overall length 41mm. c.1650 - c.1720.

A copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch dating from AD 100 - 250. The edges are damaged, but the brooch has a central circular domed plate which is decorated with twelve centrifugal triangular cells filled alternately with red and blue enamel. The brooch itself is a pointed oval (eye) shape, the projections at the ends hiding the double pin lug and the incomplete catchplate. The pin is missing. The brooch has a rich green patina. It is 27mm long, 17.7mm wide and 7.4mm thick. 3.59g. Compare examples on page 350 - 351 of Hattatt's Visual Catalogue, though this example is more simple.

Late Saxon copper alloy openwork buckle frame, flat sectioned, sub D-shaped with twin perforations flanking the pin groove, the outside edge of the frame has five rounded lobes forming part of the worn traces of moulded Ringerike style zoomorphic decoration that survive on the face. Narrowed pin bar, pin missing. Length 23.5mm. Width 28mm. 2-2.5mm thick. Similar examples have been found in Norfolk at Colkirk (NHER 30867), Grimston (NHER 30243), East Rudham (NHER 41006), Catfield (HER 40989) and elsewhere. 11th century
