Object type: BORER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped flint borer of probable Neolithic or Bronze Age date (c. 4000-1000 BC). The flint is a secondary flake and is sub-rectangular and lozenge in cross-section. It is grey-brown in colour. Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An unpatinated flint object, possibly an arrowhead or roughout for an arrowhead. It is struck from a brown to grey flint, is triangular in form, with a small area of cortex remaining at the centre of the dorsal face. All edges have semi-abrupt and scaled retouch that is long or semi-invasive in areas of both the dorsal and ventral faces. This object measures 24.47mm in length, 21.98mm in width, 6.08mm in thickness, and 2.91g in weight. If this is indeed an arrowhead, or a roughout for an arrowhead, it is likely to date to the Neolithic or Bronze Age periods, c.4000-800 BC.

An undatable Prehistoric (but probably Neolithic or Bronze Age, 4000 - 800 BC) flint possible core on a flake of undiagnostic form. It has 100% medium white/ blue patination except for some recent damage to the proximal end and right dorsal (and left ventral) edge, which shows a buff-coloured flint beneath. Both surfaces have traces of iron staining. The dorsal face has four probable blade removal scars, with the proximal end as the striking platform. There is possible removal of the bulb of persussion to the ventral face. The distal end is quite chunky and retains cortex (c.10%). Th…

An unpatinated flint object, possibly a core or core rejuvination flake. It is struck from a dark grey flint with no obvious bulb of percussion or striking platform, cortex remaining on one edge. The dorsal(?) face has had one large flake removed, followed by a series of long flake or blade scars. These scars are truncated at the distal(?) end by transverse flake or blade scars. It measures 44.30mm in length, 36.83mm in width, 17.33mm in thickness, and 31.37g in weight. It this is indeed a core then it is likely to date to the Neolithic or Bronze Age periods, c.4000-800 BC, if not sli…

An undatable Prehistoric (but probably Neolithic or Bronze Age, 4000 - 800 BC) flint possible core on a flake of undiagnostic form. It has 100% heavy patination except for some recent damage to the proximal end, which shows a dark grey/ black flint beneath. Both surfaces have traces of iron staining. The dorsal face has at least two blade removal scars, with the striking platform at the proximal end. The distal end appears thickened where removals have finished just before this point. There is no sign of retouch around the edges of the flake, and no sign of flake removals to the vent…
