Incomplete medieval copper alloy rotary key, with the bit and the distal part of the shank missing. The bow is lozengiform with a knob at three corners. There is collar at the start of the hollow, drilled, sub-square sectioned shank. Extant length 50.7mm. Bow width 26mm. 13th - 14th century.

Copper alloy key. Cast rotary casket key with part of a round bow separated by a worn collar from a lentoid section stem with a hollow end and a sub-rectangular bit with indentations front and back. Heavily worn overall. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1400.
Length: 30.6mm, Height: 12.9mm, Thickness: 3.4mm, Weight: 3.54gms.
