An incomplete copper-alloy Roman finger ring, dating from the 2nd or 3rd century AD. The bezel is oval, its surface decorated by an irregular swirl motif with recessed, light enamel-filled fields. A groove extends around the perimeter of the bezel, creating a rim. The shoulders are of 'D-shaped' section and taper towards the points at which they have been broken in antiquity. Surviving width: 15.8mm; width of bezel: 9.8mm. Weight: 3.23g.

The band has been slightly bent and is rectangular in cross section. The ring comprises a narrrow band (2.1mm wide and 0.65mm thick) which expands into wider (2.95mm wide and 1.0mm thick) shoulder panels and central panel (4.6mm wide and 1.7mm thick). Badly distorted Late Saxon copper alloy finger ring. The round-sectioned hoop tapers to pointed terminals which would have been overlapping. This type of ring was widespread in East Anglia, cf. SF-313804, and Goodall, A.R. in Rogerson and Dallas 1984, 69, fig. 110, nos. 17-22. Maximum diameter of cross-section 2.5mm. The original diameter of the whole cannot be estimated but the unwrapped length of hoop is c.60mm. c.900 - c.1066.

The ring is D-shaped in profile with an ovular bezel consistig of a raised metal reserve which forms an ovular recess for a glass or paste setting (now missing). A complete silver stirrup finger ring, of Medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1400). The finger ring has a D shaped hoop. The hoop rises to a flat topped pointed bezel. A gem is set into the bezel with a plain setting. The gem is oval. Under magnification, it is possible to see pitting and a conchoidal fracture in the surface of the gem, suggesting that it is probably glass as opposed to a gemstone.
