Copper alloy mount, possibly of medieval date
The mount is complete (with a length of 30.4mm and a weight of 2.5g). The mount is widest at one end (at 14.4mm), which is straight and enhanced with diagonal grooves. The central area of the mount is flat sectioned (1.8mm thick), decorated with two, different sized apertures (5.5mm and 3.1mm diameter), around which the edges are serrated. The mount narrows to a terminal, globular knop (5.8mm wide and 3.2mm thick). The surface has a mid-green patina.

The buckle is of annular type and is complete (with a weight of 2.4g). The annular frame is sub-circular (with an external diameter of 19.6mm - 20.9mm and internal 14.8mm - 15.7mm) and of faceted, oval section (2.4mm thick and 2.1mm - 2.8mm wide). The hinge has a single, central lug (10.6mm high, 12.3mm long and 2.8mm thick, giving the lid an overall depth of 15.0mm) with a large sub-circular aperture (6.2mm diameter). The matrix complete and is of circular form (29.7 - 30.3mm diameter and weighting 16.3g). At the apex on the rear is a trapezoidal lug (11.5mm long, 7.3mm deep, 4.7mm thick and giving the matrix an overall depth of 10.2mm), which unusually does not have a perforation.
