Copper alloy buckle. Cast oval or D-shaped single looped buckle frame of oval section. A narrowed strap bar is kinked for a pin (now lost) and there is a notch for a pin rest in the outer edge of the frame. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1350. This buckle may have lost a separate steel spindle, a small chape, or a strap bar, though there is no clear marking on the inner edge of the frame to confirm this.
