A Post Medieval lead alloy token dating AD 1654. This is a commonwealth token from the reign of Oliver Cromwell (AD 1653-1658). The obverse depicts a cross fourchée within a heater shield. Above it is a garland containing the letters T. K. The reverse depicts the irish harp within a heater shield with a garland above. The inscription reads FOR. NECESSARY. CHANGE. Some variants of this token have sun's rays behind the reverse shield. A parallel can be found in Montagu (1893, 31).
