Description: An incomplete silver gilt dress-hook of early post medieval date. The back plate is cast and circular in shape with deep U-shaped notches cut into its edges. The front face is decorated with an applied silver gilt border, which is shaped to resemble a chain, and within this is a separate six petalled flower, probably a rose, each petal is moulded with a raised triangular centre, the centre of the flower is a raised circular boss with traces of incised cross-hatching on it. Distorted but complete post-medieval copper alloy openwork hooked tag of Read 2008, single sharp-hooked clasp Class E, Type 3. A heart is displayed at the centre. Extremely close to ibid. no. 382 but with fully fettled openwork. Length c.38mm. Width 19mm. 16th century.
