A copper alloy contemporary copy of a Roman as of Claudius dating to the period AD 43-54 (Reece Period 2). Minerva reverse type depicting Minerva right, helmeted and draped, hurling javelin and holding round shield. Copying mint of Rome. cf. RIC I, p.128, no.100. Contemporary copies of asses with the Minerva reverse type are very common finds in England, along with asses in the name of Agrippa and dupondii in the name of Antonia.
