Incomplete Roman copper alloy military stud comprising a circular head and integral rectangular sectioned pierced shank on the reverse. The very slightly convex front face of the head is decorated with a shallow central blind hole within two concentric grooved circles. The transverse perforation in the shank is countersunk on one side. The shank is broken off just beyond this hole. Cf. Oldenstein 1976, Taf. 50, especially Kat. An incomplete copper alloy headstud brooch of Roman date. The head of the brooch is comprised of rectangular wings from the reverse of which a spring mechanism projects with 9 turns of the spring. The pin proper no longer remains and the mechanism is heavily corroded. The wings themselves are decorated with five steps on the front face, two of which are incised with repeating lines. To the top of the head is a worn central spine and a coil of wire which would have joined to the spring. A complete copper alloy toggle of Iron Age to Roman date. The toggle is of the dumbbell type comprising two globular hemispherical terminals joined by a waisted central circular shaft. Integral raised collars are present where the shaft and terminals meet. The metal has a mid green patina and is worn. The toggle is 23.2mm long, 11.7mm in diameter at the terminals, 8mm in diameter at the shaft and weighs 11.1g. Numerous similar examples have been recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database, for example: YORYM-1A6833, SWYOR-72CC15A, NARC-4C2B74 and NCL-DD6E92.

Incomplete and distorted medieval gilt sheet copper alloy harness mount for the suspension of a pendant, abnormally high or long, and tongue-shaped, with the folded hinge loop broken near the fold of the hinge loop. Two attachment holes lie one above the other in the centre near the top and there are two rivet holes for securing the loop near the base. Decoration comprises wavy engraved lines, one following the edges and sides and two sets of three flanking the cleft in the hinge loop. Height 47mm. Width 18.5mm. Thickness 1mm. 12th - 13th century.
