Record ID: LIN-A6443B
Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A piece of debitage, flint flake of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The flake is sub-rectangular in plan and appears to be snapped at the proximal end. The distal end contains a large patch of cortex. There are three main flake scars on the dorsal surface, and one one side there is a small patch of what is possibly retouch, though this is tentative. The flake plunges on the ventral surface to the end with the cortex. The flint is mottled brown.

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint scraper of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The scraper is sub-triangular in plan and has an irregular surface, with a small patch of cortext at the proximal end. A small patch of scaled, abrupt retouch is noted at the distal end. It has a flat striking platform and a bulb of percussion on the reverse. The flint is mottled brown.

Record ID: LIN-A61D86
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete end scraper of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The scraper is on a thick flake that has a concave ventral surface. No striking platform is visible, nor are any ripple marks. This suggests that the scraper is made from a natural piece, or perhaps on the end of a larger, now incomplete, plunging flake. Short, abrupt scaled retouch is noted along the sides and the distal end. The flit is dark brown/black.

An incomplete possible flint arrowhead of probable Neolithic-Bronze Age date. It is struck from a light brown glassy flint. It is sub-triangular, bi-facially worked with moderate edge damage. There is a slight bulb of percussion on the ventral face and weak ripple marks. This flint measures 23.14mm in length, 13.91mm in width, 3.23mm in thickness, 1.23g in weight.

Record ID: SF-A4F87B
Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An unpatinated short flake struck from a dark brown flint. It is snapped at the distal end, and has a very small striking platform with two parallel flake scars on the ventral face removing the bulb of percussion. The ventral face has extensive ripples, while the dorsal face remains covered in thick white cortex. This flake measures 30.53mm in length, 28.95mm in width, 6.81mm in thickness, and 6.19g in weight. This is a primary flake removed from the original flint nodule, presumably intentionally. It could be of any date within the later Prehistoric period, c.4000-1 BC.

Record ID: SF-A4D750
Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An unpatinated short flake struck from a dark brown flint. It is snapped at the proximal end, has a hinge fracture at the distal end, and retains cortex covering the entire dorsal face. At the proximal end where the flake snaps there is limited semi-abrupt scaled retouch at the dorsal edge. This flake measures 30.05mm in length, 27.51mm in width, 8.70mm in thickness, and 8.04g in weight. The date range of this flake is uncertain, and it may well be a natural flake that has been subject to limited later retouch. It is likely to be of later Prehistoric date, c.4000-1 BC.
