Cast copper alloy cosmetic grinder or cosmetic pestle dating from the early Roman period, that is c. AD43-200. This is part of a two-piece set (mortar and pestle). It is a pestle of the end-looped type, possibly Ralph Jackson's Type A. It is phallic in shape with the suspension loop at the best broken. The blade is crescent-shaped.
