An incomplete silver artefact, probably a terminal from a larger object, in the form of a stylised, three-dimensional animal's head. It is roughly circular in section and broken off at one end. Paperwork accompanying the artefact states that the object 'broke into 2 pieces post-discovery, subsequently repaired with glue'. The repair is behind the animal's ears.
The animal's head is elongated and curves subtly downwards towards the snout. The creature has two pricked leaf-shaped ears, one of which is damaged. Behind the ears part of the neck survives (now repaired),…

Early Medieval (Hiberno-Norse) copper alloy pin from a ringed pin, probably of 9th to 12th century date
The pin is near-complete, missing the loop but is distorted (with a distorted length of 90.3mm, a straightened length of approximately 151mm and a weight of 11.9g). The pin shaft is circular-sectioned for approximately half of its length before becoming flat sectioned at the tip half. There is a slight swelling around the loop (of 5.3mm diameter), after…

Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Buckinghamshire
Workflow stage: Published
Incomplete copper-alloy strip brooch made in one piece. The plate is complete and lozenge-shaped, slightly longer than it is wide, with one narrower end extended into a wire spring (now broken and incomplete). The other end has no elaboration to the corner, and has a pair of rivet holes which are not obviously secondary, and which must have held a separate catch, possibly a repair but probably an original feature.
The brooch is decorated with a broad border, inside a narrow reserved outer border. This broad border is decorated with groups of herringbone grooving. Within this is ano…
