An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, sprung Colchester Derivative type dating to the later first century AD. The object consists of short tubular arms, the head and top of the bow. The lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing due to ancient breaks. In the centre of the wings the head is decorated with a triangular shaped cell within which are three circular dots. Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with (now) off-centre moulded aperture of diameter 10.2mm. This appears to have been crudely cast from the impression left by one half of a biconvex whorl; irregularities on the convex side may be the poorly impressed or poorly rendered traces of a decorative scheme of lines and pellets. Chipped or miscast on one side. Patinated and/or encrusted (?with sand from a casting bed). Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600. Diameter: 34.4mm, Thickness: 8.4mm, Weight: 32.97gms.

Medieval copper alloy seal matrix of 13th or 14th century date The seal matrix is incomplete, missing the terminal loop and is heavily-corroded with some peripheral damage (with a surviving length of 16.7mm and a weight of 4.7g). The Terminal loop (with a width of 5.5mm and internal diameter of 3.7mm) is incomplete above a moulding, before the hexagonally faceted handle. The seal die was circular (with a diameter of 16.2mm).
