A copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The head is a plain, slightly flattened trumpet bell. Behind is an integral loop to hold the pin mechanism and spring. The spring, pin, and axis bar are all missing. The upper bow is plain until the double collar above the acanthus button. This projects all round the bar, but extends further at the front than at the back. The button is discoidal and has three layers of petals. An incomplete Post Medieval lead alloy cloth seal of unknown type (c. 1500-1700 AD). Only one disc survives with the integral central rivet on the reverse, which previously held the two discs together. There is a slight protrusion on the edge of the disc, suggesting that this is where the connecting strip which held the discs together was once attached; this is an old break. Flint borer of possible Mesolithic date ranging from 9000 BC - 4000 BC. The flint is a tertiary flake, light grey coloured and is patinated. The original driection of striking is difficult to determine. Described as it is photographed, it is sub-triangular in plan and sub-trapezoid in section. There is short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt, soft hammer retouch to the upper edge of the right hand side towards the pointed distal end, carried out from the ventral side of the flint.
