A copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The head is a plain, slightly flattened trumpet bell. Behind is an integral loop to hold the pin mechanism and spring. The spring, pin, and axis bar are all missing. The upper bow is plain until the double collar above the acanthus button. An incomplete copper alloy small-long brooch of Early-medieval date. The head is square in plan with a bend at one corner and appears undecorated though the degree of wear is advanced. The D-sectioned arched bow extends centrally from the lower edge of the head with a worn raised rectangular collar at both ends. The bow tapers steadily in width through the curve and continues downwards to terminate in a worn zoomorphic terminal. The broken and worn remains of a hinged pin mechanism remain on the centre of the reverse of the head though the pin proper no longer remains. The remains …

A cast copper-alloy object, possibly a simple brooch frame of Medieval date. It is annular in form and D-shaped in section with flat back and rounded front face. To one side is a slight U-shaped constriction that has possible traces of iron corrosion, perhaps a constriction for a pin. The entire object measures 17.11mm in diameter, 2.18mm in thickness, and 1.21g in weight. This is probably a simple annular brooch frame that is likely to date to the Medieval period, c.13th-15th centuries AD.

This is a silver coin that has been converted into a brooch by the addition of attachments on one side (there have vanished but their placing is clear) and by the gilding of one side of the coin. The coin is a silver gros tournois of King Louis IX, of France, a relatively large silver coin for the period, first introduced to the French currency by this king and struck by him in the years 1266-1270. Obv.: +LVDOVICVS.REX Rev.: TVRONVo SCIVIS Wt: 3.97g The utilisation of French gros tournois in this manner is familiar in England at this time, and there have been several finds…

A gold annular brooch dating to the Medieval period. The frame is circular in plan and 'D' shaped in section (flat back, curving front) with two opposed oval collets which taper towards the top, both now empty but once would have contained a cabochon stone. A cast copper alloy fragment of an Early Medieval brooch, probably a cruciform type, but possibly a small-long brooch (without the foot it is impossible to tell). It dates from AD 400 - 600. Only the lower part of the bow and the flat panel at the top of the foot survive. The bow has a thicker centre and band across the base; the rest is stepped backwards and decorated with vertical lines in relief. The flat plate is decorated with a central rectangle surrounded by a beaded frame in reserved metal. There are traces of broken off lappets. The half-round panel below is decorated with six…
