A copper-alloy awl of possible Bronze Age date. The widest point of the awl is a short distance past its halfway point, from where it tapers in both directions. One end is rectangular in section terminating in a sharp point, the other end is flattened and curved at the end. The surface has a green patina. Dimensions: 58.39mm long and 4.40mm wide. Weight: 5.16g. There is some debate as to the date of such awls, which probably first appeared in the Late Bronze Age but could conceivably have continued to have been made until much later. An incomplete fragment from a much eroded cast bronze (copper alloy) rapier of Middle Bronze Age date (1500-1150 BC). The fragment consists of just the tip of the blade and is heavily eroded having been much rolled in the ploughsoil, The blade fragment has a high median ridge / mid-rib and distinctive lozenge / diamond shaped section at the break; both these characteristics are diagnostic of rapiers being thought to be used for short sharp lunging, thrusting, or stabbing rather than cutting. A developed flat axe with hammer raised flanges of later Early Bronze Age date (c. 2000 - 1700 BC) specifically of the axe type Arreton which is dated to Early Bronze Age III, of metalworking stage V, which corresponds to Needham's (1996) Period 3 circa 2000 - 1700 CAL BC. The axehead is broadly sub rectangular in plan with a splayed crescent shaped blade. In profile it is broadly lentoid, with slight tapering edges and a thin butt with a rounded shape.
