Lower end of the bow of a Roman copper alloy brooch, probably a Colchester-derivative (double-pierced lug) Harlow type with a triangular aperture and a pin groove on the catchplate. The bow, D-sectioned and undecorated, terminates in a blunt point. Extant length 30mm. Width at break 2.7mm. c.43 - c.80 AD.

Late Iron Age to early Roman (c. AD 25 to c. 60) Colchester One-Piece brooch: The copper alloy brooch has wings which are formed by a horizontal rectangular bar which is abraded and undecorated. On the reverse of the wings, integral to the upper edge is a rectangular protrusion which is upturned towards the front face of the brooch forming a perforated lug. A Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch. Dating to the period AD75-AD175. The oval trumpet head is plain apart from an incised line around the circumference. A copper alloy Iron Age La Tene I type brooch dating to the period c. 400 - 200BC. The brooch features slight damage to the tip of the foot but is otherwise intact. The head of the pin consists of the typical four loops around a bar, creating the spring which continues into the pin. TREASURE CASE : 2014 T684. A complete silver pin, probably from an annular brooch, dating to the medieval period circa 13th - 14th century. The pin is triangular with a narrow rectangular section and curves at the widest end to form the loop which would have held the pin on to the brooch frame. Approximately less than 25% of the brooch is present, consisting only of the head, part of the head plate and an incomplete spring lug.
