Object type: SPEARHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper alloy spearhead, of probable Mid to Late Bronze Age date (c. 1600 BC to c. 1000 BC).
The spearhead fragment consists of a conical point, with a sub circular to sub rectangular cross section. The fragment is partially hollow, with the socket surviving to a depth of 14.2 mm. Longitudinal ridges are present on either edge; these are all that remain of the plough rolled blades. The spearhead tapers to a sharp point.
The spearhead fragment is a dark brown with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement within the plough soil, has resulted in …

Record ID: NLM-E8ED8C
Object type: DENTICULATE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Pale grey buff flint possible denticulate fragment. Flake with broad flakes removed from its dorsal side, a bulb of percussion on the ventral, and with short abrupt retouch producing notches along one edge; the latter possibly forms a very crude reinstatement of a finely serrated edge which is better felt than observed. Suggested date: Late Bronze Age (1000-800 BC), possibly reusing a fragment of a Neolithic tool (4000-2350 BC) which had been exposed to prolonged weathering.
Length: 30.3mm, Width: 18.2mm, Thickness: 5.7mm, Weight: 3.83gms.

Object type: PLANO CONVEX KNIFE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Grey cloudy flint with cortex possible plano-convex knife fragment. Long flint, now irregular, with short abrupt hard hammer retouch along one long edge and continuing to a rounded end; the other side is lost. Patina developed over all surfaces suggests the object was subject to prolonged exposure after its lengthwise breakage. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 54.8mm, Width: 19.1mm, Thickness: 9.8mm, Weight: 10.30gms.

Blue grey flint with cortex denticulate. Oval flake with long cortex removal scars on its dorsal side and a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral. The exposed surfaces have accumulated a mottled white patina, which is disrupted by short abrupt retouch along one long edge. Suggested date: Late Bronze Age, 1000-800, though probably re-using a flake of Neolithic (4000-2350) date.
Length: 37.5mm, Width: 27mm, Thickness: 7.1mm, Weight: 6.91gms.
