Record ID: NLM-D6BF3D
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Grey-brown flint with cortex scraper fragment. Possibly the end of a nosed scraper; the dorsal side bears a scar from cortex removal and short scalar retouch alomng a curved edge; the opposite edge is broken. White patina over the working edge suggests the object to have been exposed to weathering for a long period. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 30.1mm, Width: 34mm, Thickness: 10mm, Weight: 11.31gms.

Grey flint with cortex scraper. Irregular flake with a possible hinge fracture modified by short scalar pressure flaked retouch which is extended for a short distance along an adjacent side, possibly executed from the ventral aspect. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-800 BC.
Length: 35.6mm, Width: 34.5mm, Thickness: 11.5mm, Weight: 14.56gms.

Grey mottled flint with cortex scraper. Sub-rectangular flake with broad flake removal scars on the dorsal side and lightly hollowed on the ventral. Short pressure flaked or scalar retouch occurs along one edge, executed from the dorsal side. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 33.7mm, Width: 27.5mm, Thickness: 5.3mm, Weight: 7.30gms.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Pale buff flint scraper. Notched scraper, with long parallel flake removal scars on all three of its sides and with short scalar retouch along its inner curving edge. This, along with later damage, interrupts a white cloudy patina which may suggest reuse of an earlier debitage. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 40.3mm, Width: 14.8mm, Thickness: 12.2mm, Weight: 8.35gms.

Pale grey flint scraper fragment. Oval flake, possibly a thumbnail scraper, with invasive scalar retouch of the dorsal side and a low bulb of percussion on the ventral. A deep flake removal scar on the dorsal side was probably inflicted in antiquity, probably with a hard hammer, but affords a comfortable thumb rest and the surface here appears identical to other worked areas. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 32.4mm, Width: 31mm, Thickness: 12mm, Weight: 11.42gms.

White patinated flint scraper. Oval flake with short scalar pressure flaked retouch executed from the dorsal side. The ventral side bears a large bulb of percussion. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.

Irregular plano-convex flake with thick cortex, probably fortuitously detached from its parent nodule, Scraper. Short pressure flaked or scalar retouch removing cortex runs along one long edge, and for a shorter extent along part of the opposite edge. All surfaces without cortex bear white patina with iron staining, suggesting the object has endured long exposure. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 55.5mm, Width: 30.2mm, Thickness: 10.8mm, Weight: 28.34gms.

Dark grey flint with cortex scraper. Probable thumbnail scraper with invasive pressure flaked retouch along a curved edge on the dorsal side; the ventral aspect bears a prominent bulb of percussion from a hard hammer draft detaching this object from the core. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.
Length: 23.3mm, Width: 28.7mm, Thickness: 7.9mm, Weight: 6.12gms.
