A copper-alloy repoussé plate brooch (Mackreth's repousse disc type) dating to the mid-second to mid-third century AD. The brooch is flat and circular. The upper surface was originally decorated with a thin metal foil with a stamped triskele motif of which only a small corroded portion, perhaps only of the adhesive remains. The diameter of the brooch measures 25mm and is a maximum of 2mm thick. The catchplate is 6mm in length and 4mm in width. cf. Incomplete large Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative brooch, rearward hook, spring and catchplate missing. Worn and broken wings, both with remains of two broad grooves between three knurled ribs. Broad median rib at upper end of the bow between transverse lines and three annulets on both sides. Oval-sectioned leg tapering to foot with openwork catchplate on reverse with three irregular perforations (from top sub-triangular, n-shaped and cruciform). Length 64mm. A copper alloy Iron Age cruciform plate brooch dating to c 200BC - AD 43. The brooch is incomplete as the pin and part of the catchplate are missing. Medieval gilded silver annular brooch with surviving pin. The frame is circular, wedge-shaped in cross-section to give a flat inward-sloping surface on either face, and has a construction for the surviving pin. The pin has a groove set between two ridges on one face at the junction of loop and shaft; the shaft appears to have a stamped motif, perhaps a letter O, half way down on both faces. A Roman copper-alloy T-shaped brooch, dating from the late 1st to late 2nd century AD. The wings of the brooch have straight sides which contain the axis bar. A central slit marks the point at which the now-missing pin would have been attached. The bow is decorated from the T to about half way down with grooves on each side, then with three transverse grooves. The remaining part of the bow is undecorated apart from a knop at the end.
