Complete copper-alloy and gilded hinged book fitting of late post Medieval to Modern date. The fitting consists of two flat plates hinged together with a cylindrical pin. The smaller plate is sub-triangular in outline with curvilinear cut-outs along the edges and a lozenge-shaped terminal - there are three circular rivets arranged in a triangle formation with one through the terminal. There is a small fragment of embossed leather on the reverse of this part of the hinge. The other plate is sub-rectangular with curvilinear cut-outs along the sides. An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy, bell shaped stud (c. AD 43-410). Allason-Jones type 2. It is circular in plan, flaring at the upper edge, with a concave upper surface and protruding central pointed boss. The smaller end of the stud has an integral shaft or shank, rectangular in cross-section. The shank is pierced with a circular hole, 2.6mm in diameter. A copper alloy sheet metal repair rivet for a vessel from the Medieval to early-post-Medieval periods, circa mid 15th to 16th century. It is sub-rectangular in plan. The patch has been constructed from a lozenge-shaped sheet, with the opposing ends folding inwards towards the centre and then the pointed ends were passed through the split and folded back. A complete lead-alloy spindle whorl of uncertain date but probably later Medieval to post Medieval. The spindle whorl is circular in plan and bi-convex in section with a central sub-circular aperture with irregular edges on both faces but of approximately 8-9mm on both faces. One face is decorated with a pattern of raised lines with pellets between and the other face has a design of raised linear lines, possibly pseudo-lettering or lettering that is now illegible.
