County: Kent

A complete Medieval to Post Medieval cast unifaced lead alloy token, c. AD 1250-1800. Powell Type 3. The token is divided into eight segments with raised lines and has a pellet in each segment; the other face is undecorated. The token measures 13.88 mm in diameter, 1.61 mm thick and weighs 1.6 grams. Lead tokens were easy to produce and widely circulated; they appear in the Medieval period and those with simple designs continued in use throughout both the Medieval and Post Medieval period. Therefore, a general date of c. 1250-1800 AD is suggested for this token.
