Copper alloy strap end. Sheet metal strap end, probably with a cast V-shaped stiffener plate between sheet metal sides of thickness 0.5mm. A rivet hole of diameter 2.3mm is drilled through the solid end of the insert, which projects from between the plates, which are worn. The assembled object is now lightly bent, as damage inflicted by considerable force. Copper alloy and iron spherical bell. Cast spherical bell with a separately moulded rectangular suspension loop, set at a slightly eccentric angle. The upper hemisphere bears two opposed blow holes. The lower hemisphere has two sounding holes with a narrow slot between them, an incised design of rays on one side of the slot, and a circumferential pair of lines limiting apparently similar rayed decoration on the other. A cast copper alloy single looped buckle of Medieval date. The object is rectangular in plan with an expanded outer edge. The outer edge is decorated with five transverse grooves. The pin would have rested within the central groove. The sides of the frame are decorated with two casting spurs on each side. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The pin is missing and the object has a mid-green patina. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p27 and have been dated c.1350-1400.
