An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy composite buckle with an integral forked spacer and separate copper-alloy sheet plates (c. 1350-c. 1450). The loop is a Meols Type 3/4. The oval frame is bevelled at the front and flat at the rear. It has a triangular lip at the centre of the outer edge. Between the frame and pronged spacers there is a narrowed bar for the complete copper-alloy wire pin. An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle frame of Medieval date. One side of he frame and part of the bar survive, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. The frame is D-shaped in form with trapezoidal outer edge, and narrowed cylindrical bar. Where the bar and frame meet the frame has an animal head terminal in the form of a beast (dog/wolf?) with large oval eyes, projecting triangular ears, and flattened oval snout that grips the bar. A cast copper alloy, trapezoidal shoe buckle of post-Medieval date, about AD 1660 - 1720. The buckle is slightly curved and has concave sides with scrollwork flanking a central, rounded knop that is drilled to take a separate, ferrous spindle. The outer edge of each loop is engraved with ten radiating, transverse grooves, the central groove being slightly deeper to act as a pin rest. It is flat with a triangular outer edge. The bar is narrowed, with a rectangular lobe at the junction of the bar and frame. This buckle frame measures 20.64mm in length, 27.71mm in width, 3.77mm in thickness, 3.81g in weight. There is a similar example recorded on the PAS database (SF-16FB87).

There is a small lobe at the edns of the bar. Broadly comparable in form with an example from Wretton, Norfolk (HER 39364, NMS-417015), though this present example is larger and more lightweight.
