An incomplete Post-Medieval copper alloy double-oval buckle frame, consisting of just over half of the frame, retaining the narrowed strap bar but missing the pin. There is a lobed knop at either end of the strap bar and the centre of the outer edge of the loop is incised with three transverse lines. The frame is plain to the reverse. The buckle now measures 33.08mm by 29.46mm and weighs 4.00g. The internal dimensions of the loop measure 26mm by 13.65mm.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates similar buckles with lobed knops either end of the strap bar, p54, nos.301-312 which he dates to c. 15…

A cast copper-alloy double looped buckle frame of Post-Medieval date. It has rectangular loops that have expanded triangular outer edges, separated at the centre by an integral bar with semi-circular projections to each side of he frame where bar and frames meet. Hinging around the bar is a separately cast copper-alloy pin. This is flat, triangular in form and tapers to a rounded point. All exterior surfaces have the remains of an added white metal coating. A complete copper-alloy double-looped rectangular buckle frame of Medieval date.
It is flat and undecorated with an expanded outer edge. The bar is central, narrowed and trapezoidal in section. The copper-alloy pin is still present. It tapers to a point and has an open loop.
This buckle measures 34.89mm in length, 23.04mm in width, 2.38mm in thickness, 6.11g in weight.
There are similar examples from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, p.98, no. 442, 448).

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double looped buckle frame of Post-Medieval. It is missing the pin.
The frame is D-shaped in section with a rosette on the outer edges and expanded lobes at the junctions of the bar and frame. The bar is narrowed and triangular in section.
This buckle frame measures 42.44mm in length, 24.06mm in width, 3.12mm in thickness, 7.90g in weight.
There is a similar example from Norwich (Margeson, 1993, p.31, no. 174).

An incomplete and worn copper-alloy asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame of Medieval date. Only one loop survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
The surviving loop is D-shaped in plan and section with an expanded outer edge. It has an integrally cast trapezoidal bar.
This buckle measures mm in length, mm in width, 3.74mm in thickness, 2.57g in weight.
There is a similar example from Winchester (Biddle, 1990, p. 512, no. 1103).

Cast copper alloy waisted buckle plate 'D' shaped with rounded end 13th to 15th century AD. The buckle plate has 3 rivet holes and the pin is intact on the buckle frame. They were used widely for horse equipment. Very similar to No 48 in Whtehead. R. 2003. Buckles 1250 - 1800. Greenlight. Witham, Essex. The length is 36mm, the width is 16mm and the weight 2.40g.

Incomplete gilt copper alloy buckle plate, trefoil sheet front part with three rivet holes (two with copper alloy rivets), broken across the fold and pin slot. Engraved decoration consists of rocker-arm lines bordering and separating the foils. Cf. a broadly related type in Whitehead 2003, no. 48. Extant length 16mm. Width 21mm. 13th century.

A copper alloy Medieval (1350-1450) buckle frame of Egan's 'rectangular Meols Type C' with slightly convex sides with a ridge near each corner and a thick and bevelled outside edge with three filed grooves. The bar is offset and narrowed for the plate. The pin is missing but iron corrosion is visible on both sides of the bar. The buckle frame measures 19.86mm by 17.72mm and weighs 3.4g.

A copper alloy late Medieval or Post-Medieval annular buckle pin (c. 14th century). It is of heavy, cast construction, sub-rectangular in section, tapering to a point and has a raised rectangular moulding. The relatively sharp point implies that this formed the pin of an annular brooch rather than a buckle pin. The head simply curves round, but part is missing. It measures 48.4 mm in length, 10.0 mm wide, 4.4 mm thick and weighs 4.2 g.
It is difficult to confidently identify this object as either a brooch or buckle pin without the accompanying frame, there are a number of parallels…
