Medieval (1400-1500) buckle with an integral box plate: The copper alloy frame is largely missing and the pin is also missing. The frame has two broken arms which are rectangular in section and are just traces of the frame. The break of one side of the frame is a recent break, the other is not. A fragment of a copper-alloy decorative veneer dating to the Roman period. The fragment comprises a flat strip which is rectangular in plan. The strip is marginally ribbed on its upper surface, with both ribs being notched diagonally and possesses a range of ribbed decoration, creating a series of cells. A copper-alloy figurine, possibly depicting an eagle, dating to the Roman period. The object appears to show the beak, head and two folded back wings, the latter with feathered decoration. The feathers may alternatively represent foliage. The underside has a corroded extension that may have attached to a larger object. The eagle appears to be part of a larger composition, perhaps appearing as the attribute of Jupiter. The object measures 26.6mm in length, 13.9mm in width and 10.7 in thickness. It weighs 5.5 grams.

A copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date. It comprises front and back plates of equal size and form, separated by a spacer of uncertain form that is half the length of the plates. Each plate is flat, rectangular in form and at the attachment end they are held together by a single, separately cast central copper-alloy rivet with flattened heads. At their bases the plates taper to a cross-shaped terminal. The entire object measures 32.55mm in length, 14.86mm in width, 3.12mm in thickness, and 4.37g in weight. This strap end is of Medieval date, c.13th-14th centuries AD.

A cast copper alloy single looped buckle of Medieval date. The object is oval in plan and has a narrowed and off-sect strap bar. The pin is missing. Each edge of the outer frame is lobed with a recess in the centre which probably held a copper alloy sheet roller. The object has a dark green patina and is in good condition. The pin is missing.
A similar example can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p22, no.98. It can be dated from c. AD1250-1400.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period. The object would have been D-shaped when complete. The outer edge is expanded and has a notch for the pin flanked by two transverse ridges. The strap bar is incomplete with only a fragment remaining, it is off-set and narrowed. File marks are visible on the frame of the object. The buckle has a smooth dark green patina and is in good condition.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle plated dating from the Medieval to the Post-Medieval period. The buckle is missing and would have been single looped. The plate is rectangular in plan and cross-section and loops around the strap bar, which remains in-situ, at one end. The plate has a U-shaped notch within which the incomplete pin sits. The pin remains mobile. The plate is held together with three domed circular rivets measuring 3.87mm in diameter.

A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy star spur rowel (c. 1600-c. 1660).
This rowel is flat on one face and slightly convex on the other face. It has five evenly spaced 'fleur-de-lis' or trefoil points forming a star shape. At the centre there is a circular hole to accommodate a bar.
The object is light brown with traces of a dark green patina.
Length: 27.4mm; width: 27.1mm; thickness: 3.1mm. Weight: 3.14g.
A comparable rowel has been published and dated 1600-1660 AD (Read 2001: 66, fig. 42, ref: 516).

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle pin of Medieval date. The object is sub-oval in cross-section and has an incomplete loop which would have looped over the strap bar. Just below the loop the buckle thickens slightly and is decorated with three transverse grooves before tapering down to where it terminates. The object has a light green patina and is corroded in places.

A fragment comprising the part of the heel and side and the neck of a cast copper alloy rowel spur of 17tth century date. The neck is bulbous and downturned (14.53mm wide) and joins the heel with a circular collar. Punched decoration covers the heel and the remaining part of the side. The punch marks comprise annulets and crescents which form curves and floral shapes.

A cast copper alloy strap end dating to the Medieval period. The object is rectangular in plan and cross-section. It consists of two sheets of copper alloy held together with three circular rivets, two at one end and one in the centre. The remains of a strip of leather can be seen between the sheets. The upper face is decorated with an incised continuous zig-zag pattern along each edge. The lower face is undecorated. The two end rivets are domed on the upper face and measure 3.15mm in lenth and 2.62mm in width.
