A cast lead alloy spindle whorl dating to the Medieval period, (AD1066-1500). The object is circular in plan and biconical. It has a small central circular perforation with an internal diameter of 6.61mm which has been drilled from one side. The upper face is decorated with worn moulded lines and pellets. The opposite face is possibly decorated with runic letters however it is too worn to be certain. The object has a mid-brown patina and the outer edge has been damaged on one side.
