An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle frame with a separate and incomplete sheet copper-alloy plate (c. 1200-c. 1230). The frame is a Meols Type 2. The pin is missing. This single-loop frame, with a plain and slightly expanded edge, is 'D'-shaped in plan. It has an offset and narrowed bar which is circular in cross-section. The plate is formed from a single rectangular sheet of copper-alloy folded widthways. It is recessed to accommodate the frame and has a rectangular slot to accommodate the missing pin. Post Medieval (late 16th to 17th century) buckle: In plan the copper alloy buckle is a double looped asymmetrical frame, forming a sub-trapezoid. At the apex of the smaller loop there is an integral triangular projection with a triangular openwork. The projection is decorated on the upper surface with a central linear groove on the frame. The strap bar is narrowed strap bar, but is also covered by iron corrosion which originally was the pin. The surface is slightly abraded with a mid green patina. Early Medieval (11th century) stirrup strap mount: The copper alloy mount is sub-triangular in plan, the sides are slightly convex. The tip has a sub-trefoil knop with a circular perforation on the upper surface. The mount is decorated by a lion, facing left, and looking upwards, with one front paw is raised. The face has a raised design consisting of two parallel pointed oval motifs with a central line passing through them (a madderbag). A portion of an unclear design can be seen on the rear face. A corroded fragment of an Early Medieval cast copper alloy harness fitting. The fitting comprises a short sub-rectangular section. On one side of this the metal is broken in an old break, and on the other a rectangular arm projects into an integral oval terminal 17.4 mm wide. The central void of the terminal is oval. It is likely that the fragment had further knops and raised decorative elements but these are obscured either due to extreme surface abrasion or are missing due to old damage. The fragment measures 31.8 mm long, 17.4 mm maximum width, 4.5 mm thick and weighs 5.3 grams. …

A tang and handle end of possibly a Roman iron or steel sword. The whole object is 118mm in length and highly corroded resulting in most of the length being missing. It has a square sectioned tang, 67.5mm in length, 7.5mm at its widest gradually tapering down to 4.5mm at its corroded tip.
