Incomplete tinned cast copper alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle with rounded corners and a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The spindle is now missing and would have originally had attached to it a chape, with internal spikes, and probably a pitchfork tongue. The outer edges of the frame are expanded, as are the sections of the frame that hold the drilled holes for the spindle. The frame has a moulded curvilinear line around the outer edge, while the back of the frame is plain. An incomplete copper-alloy openwork decorative fitting dating to the second or third centuries AD. The mount comprises a flat oval plate decorated with three spirals of openwork decoration. A flat, rectangular plate extends from one end of the plate. Part of this plate is bent back on itself. This appears to be post-depositional damage. Corrosion products (possibly mineralised leather?) adhere to the upper surface of this rectangular plate, giving it a darker, discoloured appearance. The object comprises an end loop, which extends to a collar which is rectangular in plan and section. The collar is decorated with four ribs and grooves. A copper-alloy brooch from the medieval period, circa 1250-1400 AD. The brooch is lozenge shaped with trefoil projections at each angle and incurved sides. The frame is flat. The pin is attached through an aperture in one of the points of the lozengiform frame, below the trefoil terminal, and still articulates. Fragment of a cast copper alloy, Early Medieval, girdle hanger. All that survives is the upper part of the girdle hanger's shaft. The lower, truncated, section is flat, 6.6 x 2.9mm and no decoration can be seen. Above this the section becomes D shaped, 6.3 x 4.5mm and is decorated with four transverse grooves. At the end of the fragment are traces of the loop by which the hanger was suspended, this was a 2.0mm thick plate, set at 90 degrees the plane of the hanger and it bears possible traces of a hole. The fragment consists of the animal headed foot, two low bosses represent the eyes, the tip of the nose is missing. Behind the head is plain zone bearing a single, incised transverse line. Fragment of an Early Medieval cast copper alloy brooch of Aberg's Group III. All that survives is the brooch's foot, in the form of an animal's head with prominent eyes set either side of a keeled section. The nostrils are 'scrolled' (comma-shaped) which allows this fragment to be placed in Group III. Behind the head is a collar-like moulding at which point the brooch was broken. The underside of the brooch is hollowed to a depth of 0.6mm and at one end is part of the catch-plate for the pin. Conditon fair, Length 26.6mm, Width 9.9mm, Thickness 4.9mm, Mass 5.38g.

A copper alloy medieval (AD c.1200-c.1500) single loop trapezoidal buckle. Overall, the buckle measures 13.4mm long, 28.1mm wide and 3.8mm thick. It weighs 1.70g. The buckle frame has rounded corners and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The pin is a simple pointed strip of copper alloy rolled around the strap bar. There is a small trace of gilding on the pin.

Fragment of a late Roman copper alloy buckle of Hawkes and Dunning's Type IIa. The fragment consists of one side of the bow which was decorated with two confronted dophins. The object is sub-rectangular in plan, with a rounded tip and a rounded knop in the centre of each of its long edges. At the wide end there is an openwork rectangle, possibly a loop. A fragment of a possible lead alloy cloth seal, dating AD 1750-1850. The object is square, though appears to have been broken and shaped intentionally. The original shape is uncertain. One side is decorated with the initials IS, which are superimposed onto one another. There is a pellet border running around the edge. The object has a mid-dark grey pattination, with damage to the decorated side obscuring some of the motif. Similar designs can be found on dyers' seals published in Egan (1994, nos. 283-285). No. 283 in particular originally had the same formation of the letters IS.…
