An early medieval gold tremissis of the Merovingian 'National' series (c. 580-670); Belfort 536; moneyer: Angliulfus; mint: Orléans; date: c.620-640. Diameter: 10.4mm; thickness: 1.7mm. Weight: 1.22g. Description and legends, with notes: Obverse: Right-facing diademed head; inscription: (from c.9 o'clock, above hair) AVRILANIS (devolved version of AVRELIANIS for Orléans. This devolved version also seen on Belfort 536) Reverse: cross ancrée and cross pattée; (from 12 o'clock): AVGIVL+FSX (this differs from Belfort's reading of IIESVNCIA but more can be seen on this coin).

A undated length of gold wire, bent into an irregular shape. The section of this wire varies between subrectangular and circular. One of the ends displays a definite cut surface. Length: 62.2mm; diameter of wire: 4.2mm. Weight: 29.67g. This piece was viewed by several British Museum curators, who deemed its form to be undiagnostic. It was not reported as an item of potential treasure.

A subcrescentic piece of gold, broken at either end and probably representing part of an ingot. The solid-cast piece is of roughly pointed-oval section, with irregular surfaces and breaks. Length: 40.7mm; width: 21.7mm; thickness: 9.8mm. Weight: 66.63g. This piece was viewed by several British Museum curators, who deemed its form to be undiagnostic. It was not reported as an item of potential treasure.
