Roman silver finger ring of keeled type. This has an oval hoop that is rectangular in section and expands to triangular shoulders. The shoulders are decorated with four sets of incised lines that expand from the loop outwards towards the bezel, flanking these are four stamped pellets on either side which are surmounted by a scrollwork spiral in each upper corner. The bezel is a flat oval panel that would have held a setting for a stone or intaglio, but only a ring of soldering remains. Post depositional damage has resulted in this finger ring becoming distorted and squished. Simila…

A silver gilt collet from an annular brooch. The collet is made from thin sheet silver that has been formed into a hollow box that is sub-rectangular in profile and rectangular in plan. A circular aperture at its apex would have held a stone. There are traces of the frame at the base of the collet and ruminants of forked branches which were soldered onto either side. This is an additional fragment of a incomplete annular brooch that has been precisely recorded at GLO-F97DA4 2012T386
