Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A Post Medieval lead alloy token, probably dating 17th-18th century. One side of the coin depicts the letter N and the other depicts what may be the letter M or H, though the style of the lettering is unusual. Part of the letter is obstructed damage and a white concretion that maybe zinc oxide. The majority of lead tokens are thought to date to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as increasing numbers of dated tokens are found. This token is therefore likely of a similar date. Dimensions: diameter: 12.69 mm; weight: 1.86g.

Object type: STRAP END
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Cast copper alloy, Middle Saxon strap end, corroded with most decorative detail obscured or lost. Round-sided, tapering with two narrowed 'waists' towards the animal-head terminal. This retails some of its zoomorphic features; the bulging eyes and the shaping of the head. Behind the head are the traces of two 'U' shaped ears. The upper end of the strap end is bifurcated but is incomplete, the rivet holes being missing. The absence of decorative detail makes it impossible to classify this object further than Thomas' Class A. Length 44.5mm, Width 13.9mm, Thickness 4.8/3.0mm, Mass 8.13g.

A Post Medieval lead alloy token dating to the 16th century. The token has the letter I on one side and T on the other. A fragment of a late Medieval-early Post Medieval copper alloy vessel. The fragment is a sherd from the vessel wall which was probably a cauldron or pot used for cooking and although worn, the top of the sherd seems to be the rim of the vessel as it flares outwards slightly and has a finished edge in places. It is sub-square in shape and completely flat with no evidence of decorative marks on either side.

An incomplete Beaker period barbed and tanged arrowhead of semi-translucent fine quality flint with no rough inclusions, now patinated an attractive orange colour. The piece is missing both barbs and the tip with some minor damage to both lateral edges. All breaks appear to be ancient. This is unfortunate as the shape of the barbs are the defining characteristic for Green's typology (1980). Both faces are competently pressure flaked with overlapping flake scars. Although fragmentary it is likely to belong to Conygar Hill, Sutton, or Green Low types of arrowhead. 2300-1700 BC. Measu…
